In order to proceed you must first agree to a code of conduct that will enable your progress. The code of conduct is built around the 7 virtues of progress. The virtues are pillars drawn from thousands of years of study that if followed will enable your progress.
The 7 virtues work in harmony with each other. No one virtue is greater than another. They are equally worthy. No one person is perfect in all their virtues. We all can improve in striving to be better. The virtues are an infinite ideal to strive towards.
How you act upon the virtues define who you are. Members of our community agree to follow the Code of conduct and strive towards the 7 virtues of progress and their ideal representation.
In order to progress you must be trustworthy in your actions. Do what you say you will do. Be a truth seeker for yourself and those around you. Integrity is not about instilling a certain set of values because we are all different. Integrity is about being true to your set of values.
Why is this virtue important?
Without truth we have no guidance on which direction to go. We must first be accurate in what is and is not true before we make a decision on which way to go or we will end up lost.
Repeat this affirmation
I will be truthful and honest in my words and in my actions. I understand that my integrity is mine alone and will act to uphold it.
Take care of your fellow members and treat them how they want to be treated. Do unto other others what they wish done unto themselves. Consider the cascading consequences of your actions.
Why is this virtue important?
Without care why would we bother to try? We must care about ourselves and those around us in order to build a better life. Care is a requirement for relationships. Relationships are a requirement for progress including the relationship with ourself.
Repeat this affirmation
I will treat others in my community the way they want to be treated. I will consider the consequences of my actions and act with care and compassion to myself and those around me.
Apply rigour in your learning. Ask questions, assume nothing, and be open to new ideas and knowledge. Empty your cup, so you may refill it with infinite wisdom.
Why is this virtue important?
Curiosity is the foundation of learning. Learning is a requirement for progress. Without curiosity we would not be able to improve ourselves and our progress would stop.
Repeat this affirmation
I will put passion and effort into my learning. I will seek new methods to improve and be open to new ideas and knowledge
Persevere when times are tough because times will always get tough. The fruits of your efforts are most often reaped at the end of your journey.
Why is this virtue important?
Most people give up thinking they put in 100% when they are really at 40%. They invest huge resources and abandon those investments without merit but if they pushed a little further, they would unlock the next level in their progress.
Repeat this affirmation
Through the good and the bad, I will persevere. I recognize that the journey is long and success takes time. I will remain focused until success is realized
Be consistent in your actions, regardless of how you feel. Take control of yourself. It is consistency that breeds excellence.
Why is this virtue important?
Tenacity is about not giving up but discipline is about being consistent in your efforts. If you show up, but don’t “feel” like putting effort in you will get no where. You must control your body and influence your mind by building the discipline to perform even when you don’t feel like it.
Repeat this affirmation
I will remain consistent in my actions and not let temporary impulses distract me from my goals
Aspire to become better every day. Measure your progress, adapt, and progress towards betterment.
Why is this virtue important?
In order to progress, you must want to progress. Without ambition you may stay stagnant and be OK with mediocrity. You may start accepting things that you do not really want. Ambition can drive you forward towards your ideal self.
Repeat this affirmation
I will seek to better myself every day. I will set goals and measure my progress against those goals.
Serve your community to the best of your abilities. Give and in turn, you shall receive.
Why is this virtue important?
We do not operate alone. We live in a society, work on teams, have families and friends. If we only acted selfishly we could never build anything meaningful. We must help each other to build a better future together.
Repeat this affirmation
I will make myself available to and use my skills to serve my community to the best of my ability.
